A Fragment of Your Imagination 2024

January Fragment Challenge Review

7F5R Studio is a Zentangle group with Debbie New and Stephanie Jennifer. Debbie collaborated with Ildica Boyd and Nina Dreher-Goddertz to create this years’ fabulous challenge.

Fragments were first introduced by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas in their book The Zentangle Primer. The concept includes both Reticula (the shapped space where a fragment is added) and Fragments (a piece of a tangle).

I participated in the challenge for the first time and found it to be enjoyable and engaging. I decided to use an Opus Zentangle tile as a substrate and an Ogee grid from Acadia Laser.

January 1-5

The first week of the fragments challenge included Spoken, Fescu and Striping by Zentangle Inc, Paradox by Rick Roberts, and Flet by Maria Vennekens.

January 6-10

This week we have Static, Twicod by Susan Yeo, Hokusai by Sayomi Koike, Partial, and Bs by Midori Furuhashi.

January 11-15

Now we have KupuPolly by Svenja Tiegel, Kalooa from Nina’s tangle, Ixi by Anica Grabovec, and betweed.

January 16-20

This week we have Dycember, Fragement F6, Opus by Zentangle, Trivolution  by Chatelain, and Nehphi by Neha Agrawal.

January 21-24

This week we have Yerba, Firhelix by Ludivine Schott, Galaxy by Sara Ponce, and Flow.

A Fragment of Your Imagination 2024 Days 21-24

January 25-28

This week we have S9 by Stephanie Jennifer, Fragment A24, Serenity, and Mysealiam.

January 29-31

These final few day are the sweetest because I made it to the end of the challenge. Now we have Muchabee 8, by Hilde van Ginhoven, SnailZ by Kimberly white, and a new fragment by the team.

In Conclusion

I have watched the January A Fragment of Your Imagination challenge roll by several years in a row and I finally made it a priority in my tangling schedule. I love the final result of marrying fragments with the Ogee tangle.

As you can see, I couldn’t help adding a knot border to the tile.

Happy tangling!

Nancy
