Tangled Folk Art - Cultures Around the World

Rashmi Agarwal and I (Nancy Dawes) bring to you a special series of classes sharing unique folk art from different cultures around the world. By exploring these art forms, and the ancient and modern cultures that created them, we learn a little bit more about the hearts of people with which we share this planet.

Zentangle is a common style that we can use to interpret this cultural art. With this concept in mind, we have put together a spectacular lineup of Certified Zentangle Teachers to share their own take on the culture they represent.

Classes are scheduled on Tuesday’s and Saturdays through the month of September 2025. With a common zoom link and timeframe that works reasonably well with most time zones. Don’t worry about missing a session because all sessions are recorded and added to a course in my Thinkific learning center.

  • Tuesday 2nd - Nancy Dawes - Northwest Coast Salish Art

  • Saturday 6th - Oswaldo Burbano Sandoval - Spain

  • Tuesday 9th - Aya Sasaki - Kokeshi art from Japan

  • Saturday 13th - Joanna Kohl - Polish pottery designs

  • Tuesday 16th - Celein Micout - Images from France

  • Saturday 20th - Luci DeFranco - Ex voto art from Italy

  • Tuesday 23rd - Mary Dewitt - Malta spindal art

  • Saturday 27th - Traditional folk art from Tajasthan called Mandana

  • Tuesday 30th - Show ‘n Tell

This special Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) group of classes is designed to foster connections to the cultures we wonder about but have never explored. The low cost of just $97 (that’s less than $15 US per session) is available to encourage everyone to attend and learn about a diverse range of folk art.

When you click the button below, you will be taken to the Thinkific course page where you can see the 9-session outline and pay for the course. You will want to set up your Thinkific account and save the URL so that you can return easily to find the supplies, zoom link, and to rewatch the videos.
